In 2013 I took part in a volunteer travel to document a project in which 104 toilets were built and water was brought from the high mountain source to the outside of each family's house. This happened in the village of Ratankot, Nepal. During this trip, I encountered many souls and learned of many family stories and traditional habits for which I am grateful and wish to celebrate them with this featured page. Nepal

The Lonely Continent Since 2010 I have regularly visited the Antarctic because of my work as a marine biologist. I have been extremely blessed with the possibility to not only be in one of the last pristine ecosystems of the Planet, but I have also been blessed with the chance to study it, to learn about its immense wisdom in keeping that icy balance across the millennia, gigantic protector of one of the largest biodiversity on Earth.. The Antarctic is a treasure for the whole of the Oceans, for it is crucial for the World's climate regulation and for the very basis of other Ocean's food chain. Breath taking in both its beauty and the physical challenge it represents, the Antartctic is nonetheless very fragile.

I became passionate of Urbex and industrial photography because of the calm that these locations instil in me. An estranged past permeates through the details the lens captures amid the destruction, in between the rubbles on the moulded floors. A whispering gone time, desperate to be remembered before a relentless yet perfect decay will leave way to renovations and new spaces. Urbex for me symbolises the defeat of everything: of usefulness, of identity, of recognition. Absurdly. A vivid sense of freedom.

Aves I recently started to develop a passion for bird photography. These winged creatures inspire a melancholic feeling in me. Their elegance, their often tiny bodies flying across the strongest of winds, literally breathing through their whole body to be able to to sustain the exhaustion of defeating gravity against all odds. And yet their vulnerability against climate change, against the heating up the very air they travel, the relentless increase in wind surge affecting the very airways that guide them and deliver them where seasons and nature urge them to be. The loss of healthy habitats, forests and meadows, worthy of their chants. Yes, their beautiful and enchanting songs, filling our world with melodic sounds, as a living background music to our otherwise cemented days. I am grateful for birds. I wish to show you their beauty with the same intensity I feel it through my eyes and heart.

Black Diamond Schoonheid is een universele ervaring. Je kunt het niet leren. Je kunt het niet uitleggen. Je kunt het niet onopgemerkt of ongezien laten. Toen ik Aubane Filée ontmoette (Instagram-accounts -- artistiek: @f_l_u_n_e__b_a_i_e professioneel: @_flune_), wist ik meteen dat mijn camera verslaafd zou raken aan haar zachte lijnen, aan de etherische energie van haar aanwezigheid. Mijn ogen bleven rusten op haar schoonheid tijdens een urenlange zielsuitwisseling, omlijst door de gedimde lichten van een restaurant. Na elke ontmoeting bleef ik achter met een herinnering aan een buitenaardse ervaring... een diepe spirituele connectie, gekruid door de frisse schoonheid, vriendelijkheid en openhartigheid die van haar lippen stroomden door het sensuele timbre van haar stem. Muziek die de tijd deed opgaan in een enkel moment van gelukzaligheid. Dankzij haar heb ik geleerd om schoonheid opnieuw te zien. Samen met haar bouw ik een gezin dat bestaat uit liefde, communicatie en groei. Dank je wel, meer nog, dat je ervoor hebt gekozen om mijn partner te zijn in deze korte tijd op deze aarde.
